Monessen man pleads guilty to weapons violation in 2017 shootout
A Monessen man was sentenced to two to four years in a state prison Thursday in connection with a shootout on a city street nearly two years ago.
Delaney Dionte Huggins, 31, pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of a firearm. He originally was charged with attempted homicide and other offenses in connection with July 2017 incident involving the exchange of more than 20 rounds of gunfire with another man along 10th Street.
Those charges were later dismissed because of evidence issues. A reckless endangerment charge was dismissed Thursday as part of Huggins’ plea deal.
Huggins was treated for a gunshot wound to the hip, according to police.
The other man, identified as Steven Womack, 25, also of Monessen, has a trial tentatively scheduled for July.
