A Monroeville man was sentenced Friday to serve at least six years in prison for the robbery of guns and cash from a Unity home more than two years ago.

Myles F. Kacin, 20, pleaded guilty last September to felony counts of robbery, conspiracy, aggravated assault and other connected offenses in connection with a Dec. 5, 2023 heist at a Unity home.

Police contend Kacin was among of six people who stole guns and $5,000 in cash. Witnesses said Kacin and five others were apart of group who arrived at the home and started a physical altercation in which the victims were threatened at gunpoint and one man was assaulted.

Kacin, who was the last person identified and charged, fled the home with the stolen items, according to authorities.

Westmoreland County Judge Tim Krieger ordered Kacin to serve 6-to-12 years in prison.

Kacin was the first of the group to plead guilty and be sentenced for the robbery.

Others facing charges are Sean Jones, 22, and Antonio McMahon, both of McKeesport; Michael Hafner, 24, of North Versailles; Shane O’Toole, 23, of Munhall and Kelsie Graham, 20, of Latrobe.

They are each charged with robbery, conspiracy, theft and assault; their cases are pending.

O’Toole was also a victim in a separate case against Kacin.

In that case, Kacin following his arrest for the robbery in March 2024, is accused of threatening O’Toole while both men were in a holding cell in the Unity office of District Judge Tamara Mahady while awaiting a preliminary hearing. Police said Kacin was upset that O’Toole intended to testify for the prosecution.

Kacin pleaded guilty to witness intimidation, retaliation, and making terroristic threats and was sentenced to serve five years on probation in that case. His sentence will run concurrent to his new prison sentence.
