A motorcyclist died after a crash with an SUV in Sewickley Township Sunday afternoon, according to county Coroner Tim Carson and state police.

Carson identified the motorcyclist as Michael A. Jones, 30, of Old Trail Road, North Huntingdon.

The crash happened around 4:30 p.m. at Clay Pike and Shady Lane.

A Chevrolet Traverse being driven south by Stephanie Hobaugh, 36, of Irwin, attempted to turn left onto Shady Lane without proper clearance and hit the Honda motorcycle, according to troopers.

Jones, who was wearing a helmet, was separated from his motorcycle. He was taken to Independence Health System Westmoreland Hospital, where he died, Carson said.

The cause and manner of Jones’ death were pending autopsy and toxicology results.

Hobaugh was taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries, police said. They seized both vehicles to investigate further.
