Motorcyclist killed in Route 119 motorcycle crash in Salem
A Salem man was killed Friday night when his motorcycle hit a utility pole’s guy wire along Route 119 in Salem, Westmoreland County Coroner Tim Carson said.
The victim, William Earl Rager, 44, was driving the Harley Davidson motorcycle southbound when he lost control and hit a drainage culvert on a curve near the Kemp Road intersection at about 9:15 p.m. Rager died of blunt force injuries and was dead at the scene, the coroner said.
The coroner said Rager was not wearing a helmet.
Toxicology results will not be available for several weeks, the coroner said.
State police at the Kiski Valley station investigated the crash and the Forbes Road fire department assisted at the scene.
Additional details were not available from police Saturday morning.
