Glass blowing artist Dan Sullivan of Pittsburgh spins a glass cup he was working with an open flame technique on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2019 during the Mt. Pleasant Glass and Ethnic Festival. Sullivan focuses his skills on creating glass jewelry and has been practicing the craft for 16 years. “The melting point of glass is about 1,400 degrees,” Sullivan said. “The torch here is about 2,500 degrees.” The annual fall festival in Mt. Pleasant continues through Sunday until 7 p.m.

There are plenty of demonstrations by professional glass cutters at the annual Mt. Pleasant Glass & Ethnic Festival, but there are plenty other activities, too.

And that’s not to mention the food — 25 ethnic food booths plus dessert booths — and music on three stages, too. Among the acts: a Tribute to Johnny Cash, “Beatlemania Magic” and Johnny Angel and the Halos.

More than 40,000 people are expected to attend an event that has been voted the No. 1 festival in Westmoreland County by Discover Westmoreland Magazine and has been honored as a permanent addition to the Library of Congress Local Legacies.

The event continues Sunday until 7 p.m.
