Mt. Pleasant library doing curbside delivery of books, DVDs

Patrons of the Mt. Pleasant Public Library can once again check out physical items as the facility starts takeout service Wednesday.

Cardholders can order books and DVDs that employees will deliver curbside to motorists at scheduled pickup times. The materials can be ordered by phone or through a hold in the online catalog, according to library director Brian Dawson.

“We are eager to get back to providing information services to our community and want to be responsible in our approach,” he said in an announcement. “Making sure we are meeting all the CDC, Commonwealth and Department of Education guidelines took some time, but we are confident we can begin moving forward.”

Items can be returned in the book drop outside the library.

Facilities across the region have begun slowly resuming services after being shut down since mid-March over concerns about the coronavirus pandemic. The State Library of Pennsylvania recently advised local libraries to open in some capacity by the end of June.

During the shutdown, electronic items such as e-books and audiobooks gained popularity.
