Multi-vehicle wreck shuts down part of southbound Route 66 in Washington Township

All lanes along a section of southbound Route 66 in Westmoreland County were closed Thursday morning because of a crash involving multiple vehicles, according to PennDOT.

The accident was reported shortly before 7 a.m. in Washington Township.

A 1-mile section of the road between Kiski Park Drive and the Route 380 interchange at Pleasant Valley Drives is closed.

Several people were transported to local hospitals for treatment of injuries they suffered in the crash, according to the Westmoreland County 911 center.

No information was available on the condition of the patients.
