Officials believe an electrical problem may have sparked a fire that damaged a Cook Township home Monday.
Chestnut Ridge Assistant Fire Chief Josh Umbaugh said a utility company was working on phone and internet service at the home on Hoods Mill Road, near Stahlstown, when the call to 911 was made at 2:18 p.m. Firefighters tore part of the roof and walls out to get to the flames, Umbaugh said.
The home and property had hoarding conditions, which made it difficult for firefighters to extinguish the blaze.
“We had to do pretty much everything we could do from outside,” Umbaugh said.
No one was hurt. Firefighters had plenty of water as nearby Fourmile Run had risen a couple feet after heavy rains Sunday and Monday, Umbaugh said.
