A Murrysville man is behind bars after police said he entered a home Monday afternoon and attempted to have sex with a female resident while she was home alone, according to court papers.
Gregory P. Schneider, 47, was denied bail during arraignment Tuesday.
Murrysville police were called to the home on Hills Church Road at 4:30 p.m. Monday and learned that a man got inside through an unlocked door. The woman told investigators he tapped her on the shoulder while she was in the bathroom washing her face and handed her a condom, asking to have sex, according to court papers.
The woman refused and the man is accused of groping her before leaving, police said.
She provided a description that matched Schneider, who lives nearby. During an interview with police, Schneider admitted to the incident and said he also went inside on Friday while the home was empty, according to court papers.
He told police he went through the woman’s underwear and clothing before performing a sex act on the bed. The woman noticed on Friday her clothing was out of place, according to court papers.
Schneider is charged with burglary and indecent assault. He was being held at the Westmoreland County Prison. A Sept. 9 preliminary hearing is set. He did not have an attorney listed in online court records.
