After an Irwin area bereavement support group stopped meeting during the coronavirus pandemic, Harrison City resident Nancy Lohr and members of the New Life Presbyterian Church sought to create their own.

The new bereavement support group will have its first gathering from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on June 8 at the New Life Presbyterian Church, 326 Raymaley Road in Harrison City. Subsequent meetings will take place on the second Tuesday of each month at the same time and place.

Lohr, the group’s leader, said she plans to invite guest speakers and run the meetings as open discussions for participants.

“I’m hoping that it helps people in their grief journey because everyone’s … is different,” Lohr said.

Lohr added she wants to provide a bereavement group for the public because of the help she has received from similar organizations in the past.

“When you’re grieving, it changes your whole world,” Lohr said. “By getting together and sharing, we can help each other.”
