New entertainment venue coming to former Shop 'n Save in Hempfield
A new entertainment venue is expected to open in Hempfield in November.
Owners of 814 Lanes & Games of Johnstown announced last year they would open a second location at the former Shop n’ Save, 4589 Route 136.
The grocery store closed in 2014 and the 44,000-square-foot building has remained vacant. It was sold to Greensburg Entertainment Realty for $1.7 million in August of 2022..
With most of the drywall done and bowling lanes to be installed in two weeks, co-owner Bobby Hogue said construction is on pace for an early November opening.
There are five or six crews working in the building each day, he said.
The venue will feature bowling, ax throwing, sports simulators, laser tag, an escape room, more than 50 arcade games, a restaurant and a bar.
Hogue, of Penn Township, looks forward to sharing the multi-faceted venue concept with his home community.
“I’m just excited about how much excitement there is in the community — just for everyone to come in and see it and enjoy it,” he said.
The venue will bring between 80 and 100 part-time and full-time jobs to the region. For more information about job postings, visit the 814 Lanes & Games website hiring page, www.814lanesandgames.com/apply, or find them on Facebook and Instagram @814lanesandgames.
