A New Stanton man is accused of beating a dog so badly in October that it remains in medical care, according to court papers.

Chris Impink, 19, was charged this week with aggravated cruelty to animals and related offenses.

Humane officers from All But Furgotten were given audio recordings on Oct. 22 of a man yelling, hitting sounds and a dog wailing, according to court papers. The sounds, which lasted for three minutes, were heard coming from inside a Wincliff Lane home in Jeannette, where Impink and a woman lived at the time, police said.

A witness identified Impink’s voice in the recordings. Another witness told state police that Impink threw the dog, named Sparky, outside and kicked it off the porch, according to court papers. The witness tried to find the dog, a heeler/shepherd mix, but was unsuccessful.

The dog was found at a neighboring home the next day. Investigators reported its face, head and jaw were severely swollen and its inner ears were red. It had a cut to the inside corner of its eye.

Humane officer Dina Perri said in court filings that the animal remained in medical care more than six weeks later.

A summons has been issued to Impink. He could not be reached. An attorney was not listed in online court records. A preliminary hearing is set for Feb. 25.

In the days after the dog was rescued, All But Furgotten officials wrote on the nonprofit’s Facebook page that foster homes and donations are always needed. Information on how to donate or foster an animal is available at allbutfurgotten.com.
