The Franklin Regional school board this week unanimously accepted the resignation of recently-seated school director Michael Corcetti, who was not present.

He is resigning for personal and family reasons.

The board also appointed Vince Azzolina to fill Corcetti’s seat, voting 5-3. Both Azzolina and George App submitted letters of interest. App was a candidate in the 2021 election.

Azzolina will serve in 2022 and 2023. However, if he wishes to serve the full term, he will have to file to run for the remaining two years as part of the 2023 election, according to district officials.

The board ran into a similar situation when former school director Gary English resigned less than a year into his first term.
