Firefighters battle a blaze at a mobile home on Monday on Lambert Lane in Hempfield. A second mobile home also was damaged.

Fire officials are investigating the cause of a Monday afternoon blaze that damaged two mobile homes in Hempfield.

No one was injured in the fire reported just after 1 p.m. in the 100 block of Lambert Lane, according to Hempfield Fire Chief Anthony Kovacic.

Kovacic said radiant heat from the home where the fire began caused damage to a second home. He said an occupant escaped safely from the first home while an occupant of the second home arrived later at the scene.

Both trailers were significantly damaged and weren’t habitable, Kovacic said. It wasn’t immediately clear how many residents were displaced by the fire.

A portion of adjoining Swede Hill Road was temporarily closed, according to a Westmoreland County 911 dispatcher.

Firefighting units cleared the scene after 3:30 p.m., according to Kovacic.
