No injuries were reported Wednesday when a fire extensively damaged a two-story duplex in Jeannette.

City fire Chief William Frye said the fire was reported 1:49 p.m. at 719 Dithridge St. and no one was injured.

“We initially got a call that there was entrapment, but we took two walk-throughs and found nobody inside. The occupant apparently was not home,” Frye said.

The state police fire marshal and city fire department are investigating the cause.

Frye said firefighters believe it began in the second floor apartment.

“We arrived to find the fire in the second floor of the duplex. We were fortunate we were able to quickly lay down two lines to hydrants,” Frye said.

“They got it knocked down real quick in about 15 minutes. The guys did a really good job,” Frye said.

Firefighters from Greensburg and Penn Township also responded.
