Firefighters respond to a garage fire on Wendel Road in Hempfield on Friday, June 5, 2020.

Nobody was injured in a Hempfield garage fire Friday evening, according to the Adamsburg Volunteer Fire Department.

The fire started in an attic space above the garage of the Wendel Road home shortly after 5 p.m.

The home is located across the street from West Hempfield Elementary School.

One woman was home. It was initially reported she might be trapped in the house because she ran back inside to save her pets, according to the fire department. She and the animals were unharmed.

Firefighters arrived quickly and extinguished the blaze in the garage before it spread to the home.

The cause of the fire is unknown. Fire marshals are investigating.
