A North Huntingdon man was ordered this week to serve one year of probation for an assault against his 11-year-old daughter.
Samuel Farrier, 46, following a two-day jury trial in October, was found guilty of one misdemeanor count of simple assault in connection with an altercation with his children and a family friend in their Latrobe home on Feb. 9, 2018. Jurors found Farrier not guilty of more serious assault and strangulation counts related to claims from his 13-year-old daughter.
Prosecutors contended Farrier became violent when his estranged children hid from him as he attempted to take his younger daughter for a scheduled visit at his home.
Farrier claimed the children were disrespectful to him and lied about the incident following the breakup of his 25-year marriage to their mother.
In addition to the probation term, Westmoreland County Common Pleas Court Judge Tim Krieger ordered Farrier have no contact with his children or former wife, unless there is a change in an ongoing custody order issued by a family court judge.
