North Huntingdon man accused of being drunk in crash that injured woman
A North Huntingdon man is accused by state police of being drunk at the time of a September crash that injured a woman, according to court papers.
George A. Reed, 70, was charged this week with aggravated assault while driving under the influence, reckless endangerment and related offenses.
Troopers were called to a two-vehicle crash on Arona Road on Sept. 27, 2019, at 4:30 p.m. A female driver told police she was headed toward New Stanton when an SUV coming the opposite direction crossed into her lane, police said.
The two hit head-on.
Reed said he had been golfing with friends in Norvelt and had a few beers, according to court papers. His blood-alcohol content was 0.184%, police said. The legal limit to drive in Pennsylvania is 0.08%.
The female driver sustained an abdominal hematoma, concussion and neck trauma.
Reed’s attorney could not be reached Friday. He is free on $10,000 unsecured bail. An Oct. 2 preliminary hearing is set.
