Norvelt Volunteer Fire Department is holding a donation-only drive-thru fish fry this weekend.

Norvelt firefighters are giving back to those who have supported them during Lent by frying up fish Saturday for a cash donation-only drive-thru takeout.

The fire department and its ladies auxiliary had to unexpectedly cancel their fish fry this year because of state-mandated social distancing restrictions related to the coronavirus pandemic. But they’re firing up the fryers starting at 11 a.m. Saturday to give back.

“We understand the impact this pandemic has had on the people of our community and want to help out as best we can,” the department said in a Facebook post.

Meals of fish and fries or shrimp and fries will be available until they run out of food. They will not accept orders, special requests or substitutions. The department is making a donation to the Westmoreland County Food Bank.

The department is at 2325 Mt. Pleasant Road, Norvelt.
