People attending events and activities at Norwin School District, including students and employees involved in the summer camps, will no longer have to wear masks as of June 28.

The decision Norwin announced on Monday is in line with the state’s Department of Health’s directive that the order requiring the wearing of masks would be lifted on June 28, or when 18 and older when 70% of adults get their second dose, whichever comes first. The health department said Monday that 61% of the state’s population received at least one dose of the covid vaccine and 59% of the residents age 18 and older are fully vaccinated.

Norwin said it would not require face coverings in the future, unless required by the government.

Those who still want to wear face masks at the school district events will be permitted to do so, the district said.
