Norwin taking applications to fill seat on board

Norwin residents who want to serve on the school board have until 3 p.m. Dec. 13 to notify the district.

The board is seeking a replacement for Barbara Viola, who resigned. Her replacement will serve the remainder of her term, which was to expire in December 2021.

Prospective candidates should submit a resume and a letter explaining why they want to be on the board.

The materials should be sent to Jonathan D. Szish, board secretary, Norwin School District, 281 McMahon Drive, North Huntingdon, PA 15642, or via email at jszish@norwinsd.org.

The board intends to interview the applicants at a special public meeting at 6 p.m. Dec. 19 in the Norwin Administration Building prior to voting.

Former director Tracey Czajkowski, who lost in November’s general election, said she is not interested in applying toi get back on the school board.

Kimberly Piekut, could not be reached for comment on whether she was interested in filling the vacancy.
