An Ohio woman charged last summer in an identity theft and forgery scheme at banks in Murrysville and Irwin was paroled last week after pleading guilty to her role in what authorities described as a multi-state operation.
Jennifer C. Folzenlogin, 63, of Cincinnati, was arrested last July following a regional search for a suspect police said stole the identities of at least three people to cash checks in their names at local banks. According to police, Folzenlogin was part of a group that operated the scheme across Ohio, Indiana and Pennsylvania.
Investigators said that in April 2025, Folzenlogin posed as another woman at the First National Bank in Murrysville in an attempt to withdraw $3,000. On that same day, she allegedly attempted a second $3,000 withdrawal from another woman’s account.
Folzenlogin successfully made two similar transactions on July 8, according to police. Using stolen identification, she cashed checks she claimed were written by her victims: one for $3,253 at the Murrysville bank and another for $2,987 at the S&T Bank in Irwin.
She pleaded guilty Thursday to multiple counts of forgery, identity theft and theft.
Westmoreland County Common Pleas Judge Tim Krieger sentenced Folzenlogin to serve up to 23 months in jail but paroled her immediately, giving her credit for the time she has spent in custody since her arrest last summer.
