One motorist was taken to a local hospital for treatment following a three-car collision Tuesday at the Mountain Laurel Plaza off Route 30 in Unity.

The crash happened at about 12:40 p.m. in an intersection near the plaza’s main entrance.

Firefighters used hydraulic tools to remove a jammed door and free two women from one of two cars that received major front end and side damage in the collision, according to Youngstown Fire Chief Barry Banker. One of the motorists was taken to the hospital and the other was checked by medics at the scene.

No injuries were reported in the second car, but firefighters had to cut open the roof to turn off power to the vehicle, Banker said. A third vehicle received minor damage to its front bumper, he said.

State police were investigating the crash. Whitney-Hostetter firefighters and Mutual Aid Ambulance also responded.
