A group of area restaurants put their best foods forward for Ligonier Valley Historical Society’s 30th Tastes of the Town, on April 20 in The Barn at Ligonier Valley.
Surveying the packed house, Ligonier Borough Mayor Ormond “Butch” Bellas said, “It’s great to get together as a community and enjoy a good meal. Everything is excellent — except the Brussels sprouts.
“I don’t like Brussels sprouts.”
That one negative review aside, the event was a smashing success, as diners cleaned their plates and went back for seconds, and even thirds.
“I have no complaints, and I’m not finished yet,” said Tide Leachman of Latrobe, noting that it was a bonus for his wife, Kathy, to have a night off from cooking.
Representing the Ligonier culinary community were Carol & Dave’s Roadhouse, Connections Cafe, The Eastwood Inn and Gateway Cafe, El Vaquero Mexicano, Ligonier Giant Eagle, Ligonier Tavern & Table and Roman’s Pizzeria.
Other eateries present were Balance Restaurant in Johnstown, The creamery at Pleasant Lane Farm in Unity, Foggy Mountain Lodge and Restaurant in Cook Township and Green Gables Restaurant in Jennerstown.
Those who saved room for dessert went for treats from Prantl’s Bakery of Greensburg and Simply Good of Ligonier Township.
