The Penn-Trafford Community Band and its jazz band, the Jazz Warriors, will hold a fundraising concert for The Lamp Theatre in downtown Irwin with a performance there on Sunday.
The recently restored theater at 222 Main St. has become one of the best concert venues in the area, said Ron Rometo of Penn Township, P-T Community Band manager and founder.
The concert, which will run from 2 to 4 p.m., will feature a variety of music from the P-T Community Band, including marches, patriotic tunes, inspirational music, television and movie themes and songs from the Big Band Era, Rometo said.
The newly formed Jazz Warriors, consisting of mainly of community band members, will entertain the crowd with popular jazz and dance numbers, such as “Satin Doll,” “Begin the Beguine,” “Pennsylvania 6-5000,” “Blues on the Night” and other jazz and dance favorites, Rometo said.
Tickets are $6 per adult and $5 for students and senior citizens and are available by calling 724-367-4000 or at www.Lamptheatre. Tickets will be sold at the door.
