Penn-Trafford’s Sunrise Elementary School is collecting toys, books, coloring books, stickers, art supplies, blankets and crafts for oncology patients being treated at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh in Lawrenceville.

The drive, which will run from Oct. 7-11, is in honor of Lilli Durante of Manor, a kindergarten student battling a brain tumor and who is undergoing chemotherapy at Children’s Hospital. The youngster was featured in a recent story published on Today.com which described the many princess dresses she wears on chemo days.

Donations of toys and crafts costing $5 or less, or money, may be dropped off or mailed to Sunrise Elementary, 171 Sunrise Drive, Irwin, PA 15642.

The donations will be taken to the hospital’s ninth floor to add to its “treasure chest,” which is where the children go to get a gift following treatments and appointments.
