A Penn-Trafford elementary school library aide’s enthusiasm led to a grant from an Ohio foundation that can be used to buy books and other materials for the McCullough Elementary School library in Penn Township.
Sarah Schadler, a library aide at Penn-Trafford’s McCullough Elementary School, had volunteered at the used book sale at the Penn Area Library in Harrison City last month her conversation with another volunteer led to an application for a $2,500 grant from the Sense of Wonder Fund in Hudson.
The McCullough Patent Teacher Organization received the $2,500 check from the foundation in early December, along with instructions that the money be used to buy books, furniture, materials, or other educational materials and programs that will benefit the students, said Colleen Kelly, a Penn-Trafford spokeswoman.
Schadler’s creativity and passion is evidenced by the many displays that adorn the McCullough library, Kelly said.
