PA CareerLink will host an outdoor job fair Aug. 12 in Hempfield
With employers across a variety of industries in search of workers, PA CareerLink Westmoreland County will host an Aug. 12 job fair.
“Employers in this region are really in need of workers,” said Janice Albright, administrator for PA Career Link Westmoreland County. “We’ve been open for quite a while, but a lot of the CareerLink sites are now just opening across the state.”
Albright said all of the sites are organizing some sort of Aug. 12 event “to let people know we’re back open.”
The fair will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at PA CareerLink, 151 Pavilion Lane in Hempfield.
It will be outdoors to take advantage of both the summer weather and the additional space. “Our spaces are small, so if we did the job fair inside, we’d probably max out at 10 employers,” Albright said.
By holding it outdoors, the fair is able to accommodate many more, including employers in retail, manufacturing, government and other industries.
“We actually had to cap our employers at 40, because we don’t have anywhere else to put them,” Albright said.
Job seekers can pre-register on the PA CareerLink website by clicking on the “Events” tab, and can visit the office near Westmoreland County Community College’s Youngwood campus in advance to get copies of their resumes or apply for available positions at PACareerLink.pa.gov.
CareerLink events on Aug. 12 are part of an effort to promote the state’s “Join the Workforce in PA” initiative.
“Employers are excited,” Albright said.
