Twin Lakes Park

Westmoreland County Park Police said they located a woman who nearly drove a vehicle into the lower lake at Twin Lakes Park on Friday after asking the public for help identifying her.

Chief Henry Fontana said a witness reported seeing the vehicle travel from E parking lot near the spillway around 3 p.m. down a grassy hillside toward the water.

The vehicle stopped when one of its tires went over a wall near the lake. The woman managed to back up and hit a park bench while heading toward McWilliams Road, Fontana said. At some point, she got out of the silver Hyundai to look at the damage, but then got behind the wheel and fled on White Church Road toward Luxor, the witness told police.

No one was hurt.

Authorities said in a Facebook post Tuesday afternoon that they located the vehicle and female involved. The vehicle was described as a 2015 or 2016 silver Hyundai, possibly an Elantra, with damage to the front passenger side. The woman was described as being between 20 and 30 years old with long brown hair. She was wearing black leggings and a gray sweatshirt.
