Eastbound motorists on Interstate 70 in Rostraver and North Belle Vernon will encounter a ramp closure and detour as well as a single-lane restriction from 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19 through 6 a.m. Monday.

During closure of the eastbound on-ramp from Route 906, motorists headed north on Route 906 will continue under the interstate, enter the westbound interstate on-ramp and travel across the I-70 bridge. They’ll then take Exit 40 to Route 88 south toward Allenport, but instead they will re-enter I-70 eastbound.

Drivers headed south on Route 906 will enter westbound I-70 and then follow the above detour.

During the same time, an eastbound I-70 lane restriction will be in effect between Exit 41 (Belle Vernon/Monessen) and Exit 43 (Donora/Fayette City).

The traffic changes will allow Golden Triangle Construction Company to patch concrete pavement, repair drainage and replace barriers.

The work is part of a nearly $9.7 million I-70 pavement preservation project stretching from the Wheeling & Lake Erie Railway to Route 906. The project is expected to continue through late fall, depending on weather conditions.

Meanwhile, PennDOT is planning additional work in Westmoreland County beginning Monday:

• A pavement preservation surface treatment will be applied on Robbins Station Road/Turner Valley Road, Ridge Road and Park Hill Road, all in North Huntingdon; Turkeytown/Motordrome Road in South Huntingdon; Bear Rocks School Road in Cook.

• Shoulder cutting will take place on Roseytown Road, Locust Valley Road and Cameo Lane, all in Hempfield; Five Point Road in Salem.

• Pipes and box culverts will be installed on Plumbers School Road in South Huntingdon and Laughner Road in Fairfield.

Crews will pick up litter, replace and update signs and complete other work on various state roads throughout the county.

Motorists should anticipate potential detours, lane restrictions and flaggers in work areas.

Residents can call PennDOT toll-free at 800-349-7623 to report road maintenance concerns and the locations of dead deer on state highways.
