More than 400 children enjoyed some fun in the sun Wednesday afternoon at a celebration of the Penn Area Library’s summer reading program.
Face-painting, food, games and other activities were set up in the Penn Township Municipal Park for the culmination of the program.
Library children’s services coordinator Pat Cappeta said 2019 was the program’s strongest year yet.
“We had 1,250 kids this year, compared to about 1,100 last year,” Cappeta said. “We’ve had a really great turnout here today.”
We spoke with a few children to see which books they enjoyed the most during the summer reading program.
