Penn library to hold chess tournament

The Penn Area Library in Harrison City is hosting its annual chess tournament.

Students will get a chance to test their chess skills against youngsters in their age group at a chess tournament on March 14 the Penn Area Library, Municipal Court, Harrison City.

Tournament play begins at 1 p.m. and will continue until all rounds are completed. The junior division is open to children in kindergarten through fourth grade. The senior division is open to children in grades 5 through 8.

Trophies will be awarded to the winner and runner-up in each division. The winners will be eligible to compete in the Westmoreland Library Network County Tournament on March 28 at Murrysville Community Library.

Players should register by March 12 online at www.pennlib.org, or call the library at 724-744-4414.
