A section of Watt Road in Penn Township is set to close the week of June 3 as construction begins on a replacement bridge over Bushy Run.

Traffic will be detoured along Harrison City-Export Road, Route 130 and Bushy Run and Gongaware roads. Weather permitting, the bridge should be complete in mid-August, according to PennDOT.

This bridge is one of 558 in the state that are being replaced as part of the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project — a public-private partnership between PennDOT and Plenary Walsh Keystone Partners, under which the private partners agreed to finance, design, replace and maintain the bridges for 25 years.

According to PennDOT, the public-private approach has allowed the bridges to be replaced more quickly while achieving savings and minimizing the impact on motorists.

Visit parapidbridges.com for more information about the included bridge projects.
