Penn-Trafford-Jeannette covid cases tallied for week ending Feb. 9, 2021
The number of new confirmed covid cases in the Penn-Trafford-Jeannette area remained nearly level, with 30 new cases in the seven-day period ending Feb. 9 — up 3 from the week prior — according to data from the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
Since the pandemic began in March, the six ZIP codes covering most of the three communities have seen a total of 1,650 confirmed cases as of Feb. 9, up from 1,620 on Feb. 2.
Residents of these six ZIP codes have taken a total of 9,158 coronavirus tests, 18% of which were positive. Since Jan. Feb. 2, 159 tests were administered, 18.9% of which were positive
The breakdown of cases by ZIP code is:
Jeannette, ZIP code 15644: 885 confirmed cases, 19 new cases this week, 421 probable cases, 4,202 negative test results. Trafford, ZIP code 15085: 390 confirmed cases, three new cases this week, 152 probable cases, 1,731 negative test results Harrison City: ZIP code 15636, 210 confirmed cases, six new cases this week, 88 probable cases, 842 negative test results Manor, ZIP code 15665: 88 confirmed cases, one new case this week, 44 probable cases, 310 negative test results Penn Borough, ZIP code 15675: 41 confirmed cases, no new cases this week, 30 probable cases, 211 negative test results Claridge, ZIP code 15623: 36 confirmed cases, one new case this week, eight probable cases, 212 negative test resultsA significant portion of Penn Township is grouped under the Irwin 15642 ZIP code. That ZIP code has seen a total of 2,488 confirmed cases, up 36 from the week prior.
Penn-Trafford School District has reported a total of 123 covid cases since the school year began, including two new cases reported in the last week. Westmoreland County has had a total of 18,231 confirmed cases, 7,201 probable cases, 642 covid deaths and 83,532 negative tests since the start of the pandemic.
A large spike in cases in the county began in September and peaked Dec. 10 with 747 positive cases in a single day. Case counts have been declining steadily, but remain well above pre-September levels.
