A Penn-Trafford School District staff member has tested positive for covid-19, district officials announced Friday.

The staff member had been in close contact with other staffers, district Superintendent Matthew Harris said in a notice posted on the district website.

“As soon as we became aware of the positive case, we immediately contacted the Department of Health per state guidelines and initiated protocols outlined in our Health and Safety plan,” Harris stated. “As part of this process, individuals who may have come in contact with the staff person has been contacted by DOH so they can get tested or begin to self-quarantine.”

Harris didn’t identify the staff member, citing privacy laws.

He said the district would continue to work with the state’s Covid-19 Rapid Response Team.
