Penn-Trafford sets new dates, plans for graduation, prom
Penn-Trafford officials have set two alternative dates this summer to hold the commencement ceremonies that were canceled for May 26 because of Gov. Wolf’s order banning large gatherings and the closing of schools in the state.
Commencement is now scheduled for June 26.
But if that date must be postponed, July 31 will be the alternative, according to the district.
The high school prom scheduled for May 1 has been canceled.
The district has replaced the prom with a Senior Farewell Dinner Dance at Antonelli’s Event Center in Irwin on June 19. The event, only for seniors, will include dinner and dance, Top 20 and Scholarship Recognitions, a senior slideshow and other activities.
Students can wear their prom attire or wear semi-casual attire. A tentative backup date is July 23.
Possible performance dates for the high school musical, “Footloose,” will be announced once social distancing restrictions are lifted, the district said.
Student summer courses will be online.
