A Penn-Trafford senior is accused by police with driving a car down a high school walking path, through a grass sports practice field, over a hillside and through a nearby homeowner’s yard in an attempt to flee a crash in a high school parking lot May 23.

Chance A. Orr, 18, was charged before Harrison City District Judge Helen Kistler with failing to stop and render aid, accident involving damage to occupied vehicle, trespassing by motor vehicle, reckless driving and careless driving in connection with the incident that occurred just after noon in the student parking lot at the high school as seniors were being dismissed.

Penn Township patrolman David Meyers Jr. reported a female student said her vehicle was damaged when it was struck by a 2010 Ford Focus that fled in an attempt to avoid detection.

Meyers reported that when he investigated, other students reported Orr as the driver of the car that fled and those reports were validated by school security video tape. According to the complaint, Meyers said the tape showed Orr was driving at such a “high rate of speed” when the collision occurred “both driver’s side wheels lifted off the ground.”

Police confiscated a damaged hubcap from Orr’s car from the scene. Meyer’s said in court documents Orr admitted to school officials when he was reached by phone of being involved in the accident.

Meyers said the victim’s Kia suffered damage to the front bumper, front quarter panel, hood and windshield washer reservoir.

Orr was cited via mailed summons and a preliminary hearing will be scheduled.
