PennDOT paving work is scheduled to be underway beginning on Monday, May 6 on the outskirts of Greensburg, simultaneously restricting traffic for several days on two routes providing access to the city from the east.

Depending on weather, crews from Tresco Paving Corp. are set to begin milling and resurfacing at 7 a.m. Monday on a section of Roseytown Road, between Donohoe Road and North Tremont Avenue, in Hempfield.

Beginning at 10 a.m. Monday, the contractor also is slated to start similar work on East Pittsburgh Street, between Humphrey Road and Route 30, at the border of Greensburg and Hempfield.

Single-lane restrictions are expected in both locations as the work continues through Friday, May 10.

It’s part of a $10.6 million project to improve infrastructure on several state routes in Westmoreland County.

In the same general area of East Pittsburgh Street, crews from Charles J. Merlo are set to begin additional work Tuesday on a new replacement bridge recently constructed to carry eastbound lanes of East Pittsburgh over Route 30.

Nightly single-lane restrictions will be in place, between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m., on the bridge and on the portion of Route 30 underneath it as workers install fencing on the bridge. That work also is expected to continue through May 10.

PennDOT indicated the $7.6 million bridge project should be completed by the end of May.
