Replacement of underground pipes is triggering closures of one road on the outskirts of Jeannette and another east of West Newton.

Closure of a section of Penn Adamsburg Road in Hempfield, between Gratz Street and Julie Dean Lane, is set to begin Friday, according to PennDOT.

State maintenance crews will install under the road a new pipe measuring 4 feet in diameter and 240 feet in length.

The work is expected to continue through early May, with traffic rerouted along Penn High Park Road, Baughman Avenue, Park Street, Pennsylvania Boulevard, Route 30 and Edna Road.

In South Huntingdon, Plummer School Road is closed between Route 136 and Sportsman Road while crews replace a pipe that was destroyed and repair a road that was damaged as a result of a recent brush fire.

That work is expected to continue through November, with motorists detouring along portions of Route 136 (Main Street) and Sportsman Road.
