The University of Pittsburgh has confirmed it is firing nine staff members for failing to comply with the university’s covid-19 vaccine mandate.

“We are in the process of terminating the nine staff members who have not come into compliance,” university spokesman David Seldin said Friday. “Three faculty members continue to move through the disciplinary process.”

The university has required that all faculty, staff and students provide proof of vaccination or an approved exemption.

Students who have failed to comply with the vaccine requirement were being “disenrolled” by the university.

According to the university’s Covid-19 Medical Response Office, 122 students and 31 faculty and staff on the main campus had positive covid tests from Feb. 2 to Feb. 8.

The Greensburg campus saw 10 students test positive in that period, while no staff cases were reported there.
