A Pittsburgh man is charged with selling methamphetamine and an AR-15 rifle to an informant, according to North Huntingdon police.

Chad T. Chamberlin, 51, of the city’s Bloomfield neighborhood, was charged with drug possession with intent to deliver, and possession of a firearm with an altered manufacturing number.

In May, police received information that Chamberlin was selling crystal methamphetamine in Westmoreland County. They also found a cell phone number for him and recruited an informant to assist in their investigation.

The informant spoke with Chamberlin by telephone and arranged to buy crystal meth as well as an AR-15 rifle, according to court records.

On June 5, the informant met with an undercover police officer and arranged to meet Chamberlin for the buy at a location along Guffey Rillton Road.

Agents from the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office conducted surveillance.

When Chamberlin arrived at the agreed-upon location, he went into a garage with the informant and undercover officer, producing a bag of meth from which he weighed out an ounce. Chamberlin then brought both men to his vehicle and got the AR-15 out of his trunk, according to the police affidavit.

Chamberlin told them the gun did not have a serial number on it, police said, adding that he had used it before “and that it shoots nice,” according to court records.

After Chamberlin left, the drugs and gun were taken to the North Huntingdon Police Department for processing.

Chamberlin was arrested and arraigned on Tuesday. He was unable to post $250,000 bail and was taken to the Westmoreland County Prison.

An Aug. 4 preliminary hearing is set before District Judge John Christner’s Rostraver court. An attorney for Chamberlin was not listed in online court records.
