A Pleasant Unity man has been arrested and charged with threatening Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf, officials in York County announced Tuesday.
Rocco Anthony Naples, 28, faces a third-degree felony charge of threats and other improper influence in official and political matters and related misdemeanor counts of terroristic threats and harassment, according to court documents.
Naples called Wolf’s former business, Wolf Home Products, on May 8 and told a customer service employee he upset that a friend’s business was shut down, state police said.
He told the customer service rep that he “was angry about Governor Wolf closing their companies but keeping his open, he said that him and a couple of his buddies have a bullet waiting for (Wolf) if he keeps them closed,” according to a criminal complaint.
State police in the York area contacted the Westmoreland County Probation Office to help identify and locate Naples, and state police out of Troop A in Greensburg took him into custody on Tuesday. He has not been arraigned, according to court documents. He was charged in York County.
“Let me be clear: as district attorney of York County, I will not tolerate this kind of behavior by anyone, toward anyone,” York County District Attorney David Sunday said in a video posted to his Facebook page.
Naples could not be immediately reached for comment.
