A Hempfield man is behind bars after state police said he stabbed a man Friday inside a township home.

Vincente Alejo Andres, 34, is accused of stabbing the man in the face while the pair were fighting at a Tiffany Circle home.

The injured man was taken to AHN Forbes Hospital in Monroeville for treatment, police said.

Troopers responded to Suburban Estates and found him “unconscious with severe bleeding from his face” inside a neighboring home from where the attack happened, according to court papers. The victim regained consciousness and told investigators Andres punched him in the face about 15 times and then stabbed him, police said.

He escaped the attack with help from a neighbor, who heard screaming and saw Andres standing over him with a knife, police said.

Andres went to Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital in Greensburg for treatment, where troopers found him. Andres said the victim punched him in the face while he was in the bathroom of the home, according to court papers.

“Andres went on to explain he only struck (the man) with his fists,” troopers reported. “He had no knowledge of a knife being involved.”

The relationship between the two men was unclear in court papers.

Andres was jailed on $100,000 bail Friday. He did not have an attorney listed in online court records.

A July 5 preliminary hearing is set.
