Police: Hempfield Area student threatened to 'shoot up' high school
A Grapeville man is accused of threatening to “shoot up” Hempfield Area High School last month, according to court papers.
Evan Daniel Kinzey, 18, is charged with misdemeanor counts of terroristic threats, possession of a weapon on school property, disorderly conduct and related offenses.
Troopers were called to the school at 11:24 a.m. Jan. 24, about an hour after Kinzey had allegedly posted the threat on social media that included an apparent plan to harm himself.
Kinzey’s mother told investigators that they have guns in their home that he could potentially access.
Investigators searched his locker, backpack and vehicle, according to the complaint. In his vehicle, police found a knife, marijuana, liquid THC and drug paraphernalia.
The charges were sent by summons. A March 29 preliminary hearing is set. Kinzey did not have an attorney listed in online court records. A message left for him was not immediately returned.
