A 44-year-old Jeannette man was killed early Sunday after being hit by a semitruck on the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Beaver County, state police said.

Christopher Elliott was pronounced dead by the Beaver County coroner around 2:20 a.m.

According to a police report, Elliott was standing in the right westbound lane of Interstate 76 near milepost 15.5 in North Sewickley Township.

The truck hit Elliott, who landed near the center median, officials said. The driver of the vehicle came to a stop on the right side of the roadway.

Charges were not filed against the driver, according to the report.
