A 15-year-old girl was treated at a hospital Monday after being bit by a dog while jogging at Hempfield Area High School.
State Trooper Steve Limani said the incident happened around 5 p.m. A woman and the dog fled shortly afterwards in a newer model white Toyota RAV 4. License plate information was not available. Authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying the woman.
Limani said the dog was described as being medium-sized with tan or beige fur. Images released by investigators Tuesday showed the person with the dog was wearing light-colored pants and a red or pink long-sleeved shirt. The woman has dark hair.
Anyone with information on her identity is asked to call state police at 724-832-3288.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, about one in five people who are bitten by a dog end up needing medical attention. The dog was on a leash, Limani said.
