Brian Stoltie, 39, is wanted by state police on warrants for a stolen vehicle. He has ties to Westmoreland and Fayette counties.

State police are looking for a 39-year-old man described as armed and dangerous in connection with vehicle thefts in Westmoreland County.

Troopers in Greensburg said Brian Joseph Stoltie is wanted in South Carolina for the 2019 attempted homicide of a police officer. Stoltie has ties to Westmoreland and Fayette counties, police said.

An arrest warrant was issued Thursday after state police filed theft charges against him in connection with vehicle thefts in East Huntingdon on Tuesday and South Huntingdon on Thursday. Stoltie reportedly fled police on Thursday and ditched a stolen vehicle in South Huntingdon.

According to South Carolina media outlets, Stoltie was arrested about a year ago after allegedly shooting at a county sheriff’s deputy during a police chase. He was hurt as deputies returned fire, according to news accounts.

Stoltie is listed as a sex offender in South Carolina in connection with a 2011 conviction. The address listed on his registry is in McKeesport.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call 911 or state police at 724-832-3288.
