A South Greensburg man was arrested Tuesday after, police say, he tried to run from a North Huntingdon traffic stop.
Investigators said they found Tristin Michael Allen Huffine, 20, in possession of suspected marijuana and cannabis oil while he was in the back seat of a car pulled over at 12:40 a.m. on Route 30. He is charged with flight to avoid apprehension, resisting arrest and drug offenses.
Township officers pulled the car over because of an expired registration near the Pennsylvania Turnpike interchange and noticed a marijuana odor, according to court papers.
Police said they found bags of suspected marijuana and a scale inside a backpack at Huffine’s feet. When one of the officers was placing him under arrest, Huffine allegedly fled on foot toward an assisted living facility near the highway. Police used a Taser and took him into custody, according to court papers.
A juvenile female who was in the backseat told investigators Huffine gave her cartridges of cannabis oil to hide as they were being pulled over.
He was arraigned Tuesday and freed on $50,000 unsecured bond. He did not have an attorney listed in that case. No charges were filed against the two other adults in the car. It was unclear if the girl was being charged.
After police captured Huffine, he told them he had warrants out for his arrest. Latrobe police had been looking for him since May when they filed weapons violations against him after an incident there. He was arraigned Tuesday and is being held on $20,000 bond in that case, according to online court records.
During a bench warrant hearing Tuesday, Huffine pleaded guilty to theft, receiving stolen property and drug possession in connection with a 2019 incident in Hempfield. He was sentenced to one to 23 months in the Westmoreland County Prison, according to online court records.
