State police found 20,000 stamp bags of suspected heroin Wednesday hidden in a sport utility vehicle heading east on the Pennsylvania Turnpike, according to court papers.

Troopers pulled over Cristobal Rosa-Robles, 48, of Philadelphia, for a traffic violation at 1:30 p.m. near mile marker 78 in Mt. Pleasant Township. Police did not say in court papers the reason for the traffic stop.

Rosa-Robles gave investigators permission to search the Chevrolet Tahoe, in which they found a hidden compartment in the trunk, police said. Inside, they found the drugs.

Rosa-Robles is being held in the Westmoreland County Prison without bail on drug charges.

He did not have an attorney listed in online court records. An April 10 preliminary hearing is set.
