State police plan to charge a Latrobe man after he allegedly left two dogs inside a car in hot weather on Sunday.

Police said the incident happened around 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the AMC movie theater at the Westmoreland Mall in Hempfield, where the man left two medium-size, mixed-breed dogs inside a vehicle for more than an hour in 82-degree weather.

“An empty bowl of water was located inside the vehicle,” the release said.

No further information was available. State police did not say anything about how the dogs were found or their condition.

Pennsylvania has “Hot Car” law which provides protection for law enforcement and emergency responders when a dog or cat is removed from a motor vehicle when showing signs of distress.
